This group was created in January 2018 when the founder Michelle Medler decided to collect litter while walking her dogs. She posted a few photos on Facebook and before long others were doing the same.
After a few weeks people were meeting up in pairs to litter pick where they live and posting pictures online. Within six months the group had over 1000 members and lots of support from local businesses.
Now one year on The Pickup Artists have:
- Removed a substantial amount of litter from Kidderminster, Bewdley, Stourport and surrounding areas
- Adopted the canal path which runs through Kidderminster from The Canal and River Trust
- Have several links with schools and colleges with Junior Pickup Artist groups
- Have a clothing range including High Visibility vest, T-shirts and hoodies
- Have a loyalty scheme for regular litter pickers to get discounted meals at local bars and restaurants
- Won 2 Community Awards
- Have sponsored an island in Kidderminster
- Have amazing support from Wyre Forest District Council who have supplied us with equipment and always collect out litter promptly
- Taken part in the 500 ecobrick challenge
- Signing off our to volunteers for The Duke of Edinburgh Award

Our future looks stronger and bigger with more litter collected, more education to school age children and even more events to meet people, enjoy some fresh air and make a difference
